During the month of February this year, I went with a friend to Peru. Not really know much about the jungle, we had read some travel blogs but the fact that any of us was very studious while preparing the trip. After resting in Lima long and tedious journey Arica - Tacna, we take a bus 28 hours from Lima to Yuri Magua, a village in the high jungle of Peru, by which you enter the jungle.
The main destination for Peruvian jungle is Iquitos, a giant city in the jungle, born in the era of rubber, currently oil exporter where most of the products are carried in cargo ships by the Amazon river and there are no roads . You can only be reached by boat or plane. After three days on the cargo ship, we arrived in the city of Iquitos, met the main attractions and started looking for the best alternative to into the jungle. We met Jorge, a tour guide who needed money urgently to treat his son, who offered us to stay at home, in a town called Santa Ana, on the outskirts of Iquitos. We were five days living in the jungle, first in his village where there was no electricity or Internet. Even bathrooms. Then we entered the forest, camping three days with Jorge showing us the tricks of basic survival that he had learned in his time of military, around presented us his brother Lorenzo, who was the shaman of the people, we Medicine showed part of the place.
It was a unusual vacation, I had never been in a place so different from Santiago. I noticed that the children of the Santa Ana did not even know what was CHILE but knew Alexis Sánchez and Los Prisioneros.
Hi Nico, what a nice trip you made!
